About My Horses

History

I began my riding hobby when I received my first horse. Cinnamon was 25 years old at the time and she was a handful. I owe it to Cinnamon for most of my horse handling skills and to never give up on a problem. She made it difficult but she made me a horse person. Cinnamon was given to a family with children at 31 years and passed on at 33. Even with her difficult exterior, she was loved by both families.

I soon grew out of Cinnamon's abilities, then Autumn became part of the family. She came to my family looking skinny and unhealthy. Soon she became a beautiful horse. Being a young rider I was being tossed bits and pieces of information on riding and training a horse for games. I believed the more that I rode the better Autumn and I would be. I literally practiced everyday after school, and even in the snow and rain. After only a year of owning this horse we unexpectedly won a State 4-H horse show trip at the county fair. This is one of the key moments that I realized I may have a gift with horses. The remainder of the year we attended many local horse shows and received many trophies and ribbons. The following year we won another State 4-H trip and that year we won 7th out of 50 in the Key race. She was a great horse and in 2002 we decided to have her bred. She produced a beautiful colt that we named Smokey. She was bred for a second time to have a filly in 2005 named Holley. Over the years she has helped me teach many people how to ride. She has the most willing attitude and is the sweetest horse I have ever met. He has since passed in the late summer of 2009. She will forever be loved. (1992-2009)

While Autumn was pregnant in 2002, I decided that I needed to upgrade to a new game horse while she was popping out babies. I fell upon an appaloosa gelding in an ad and felt he was perfect! I was able to purchase my first horse, Axl. The very next summer at the county fair, we kept our winning streak and went to the State 4-H show. This year we won ribbons in 3 out of 4 events, competing against 50-60 other horses. We also began winning at the WSCA Champ show. Soon I was off to college and Axl was left to sit at home. I was interested in competing with the UWRF Rodeo Team but I needed time to build my contacts. In 2006 I was competing on the Rodeo Team. We went to Iowa, South Dakota and Nebraska. Axl is now 10 years old and still winning at barrel races. He is a great family horse and being ridden by everyone!

Smokey was an easy to train baby. I participated in the 4-H training program and won trips to state with him also. He was almost too easy for me to continue riding him. At 2 years I had him for sale and he was purchased by a family with children. He was intended for a young boy.

Teddy was a yearling I received in a trade for training a young mare. He too was very easy to train. He had a puppy dog like attitude toward people. I felt he was not an ideal horse for me to keep for myself. I had him up for sale at 3 years and an active 4-H family purchased him for their daughter. Together they are riding in game events at the county fair.

Autumn's second foal, Holley. This was another calm and friendly foal. She is a fast learner and a pleasure to be around. She was sold to the Seifert family and being trained for games by their daughter.

I came to own Slash by talking to a girl in one of my college classes. She had problems with his groundwork. She asked me if I would work with him. I decided to buy him to see how he would work out. He is 16+ hands and he thought he could push people around. After working with him for a summer, we worked out his problems. Now he is a great horse. He is now SOLD as a barrel horse in ND!

Indi is a 2003 American Paint horse. When I picked her up she was skittish of many common things and very green broke. Needless to say she did not have many successful rides with her previous owner. With some regular work she is turning out to be a nice riding horse. She is now able to go out on trails and is improving on her skills. She is even being ridden by my dad and others! She is a handful sometimes but I have learned her tricks and know her capabilities. She is a joy to bring to fun shows and goof off with at team penning practice.

This gelding is bred by Red Money Brisa by On the Money Red and out of Two Eyed Fancy Poco. He will be my next barrel racing prospect. I call him Remmy. He is 4 years old now and being ridden on trails. He is so fun to ride I just can't help but love him! Thanks to Carousel Corral for giving me this opportunity!

Okie Dokie its Annie Oakely... She is a yearling filly purchased this summer. She is a Rocky mountain horse bred to have a smooth saddle rack gait. She is my first gaited horse. Her color is also unique, she is a chocolate with a flaxen mane and tail. She has a great puppy dog like personality. Thank you Northern lakes farm for this fantastic filly!
